Following a well attended meeting with residents from The Dell and The Willows and representatives from Durham County Council, Auckland Project and Bishop Auckland and Coundon in Bloom  a number of priorities were identified.

In response, the steering group working closely with Durham County Council, agreed an action plan that would see the historic woodland transformed and heritage assets restored and protected.

The work started in December when local resident Mario Rea removed the ivy that was strangulating the walls, the area was treated with weed killer and most recently the path leading to and from Kingsway and the trough was cleared of detritus improving the enterance and walkway.
